My framework was running fine until the most recent updates for Security Center and Firewall that occurred on 6/3 and 6/4. After the report on 6/4 , the framework began getting very lazy. Settings were checked and all were equivalent to before the updates. I noticed in Task Manager that mcshield.exe was continually running and the cpu rate was fluctuating somewhere in the range of 0% and half. It was additionally taking somewhere in the range of 30,000 K to 250,000 K. Program new companies took way more (once in a while over twice as long). Nothing else has changed on the framework.

When you try to install a McAfee Windows security product, the installation fails and the installer displays a red banner with either of the following error messages:
Unable to Continue Installation. We are having trouble installing your McAfee software because of this. Error 0
Something went wrong with the installation
We are having trouble installing your McAfee software.
Contact McAfee Support and mention problem code 0.
Retry the installation. In most cases, this will resolve the issue and your product will install successfully. If this still fails, you have two options:
Use our Virtual Assistant (see below) where we walk you through each step of the process.
Use the manual steps shown in Solutions 2–5 of this article. Start with Solution 2 and proceed to try the subsequent solutions, only if your issue is not resolved.
Run the Pre-Install tool When you see the error, click Done to close the dialog box, then follow these steps:
- Download the Pre-Install Tool.
NOTE: Save the file to a temporary location, such as your desktop.
- When your computer restarts, try to install your McAfee product again.
- Proceed to the next Solution if the installation fails again.
Run McAfee Virtual Technician
The Virtual Technician can fix many different issues with McAfee Products.
Proceed to the next Solution if the installation fails again.
Download the installation package again
Use a different web browser to download the McAfee Windows security product installation package again.
Retry the installation using the newly downloaded package.
Resolve any DNS issues
Installation issues might occur if name resolution (DNS) is slow. Changing the DNS setting on your network card to a public server might help to resolve these issues. For details about how to do this, see TS102487.
When you have made these changes, retry the installation. If the installation fails again, contact Technical Support.
